Purpose

This glossary provides definitions for technical, business, and professional terms used across Fluxline's services, projects, and documentation. These terms support our professional services, development work, and business operations.


A

Accessibility

The practice of making digital products, services, and environments usable by people with disabilities. Includes compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards.

Agile Development

An iterative approach to software development that emphasizes flexibility, collaboration, and rapid delivery of working software in short cycles (sprints).

API (Application Programming Interface)

A set of protocols and tools that allows different software applications to communicate with each other.

Articles of Conversion

Legal documents that record the transformation of a business entity from one type to another (e.g., LLC to Corporation).


B

Backend

The server-side of a web application that handles data processing, storage, and business logic, typically not visible to end users.

Brand Identity

The visible elements of a brand, including logo, colors, typography, and design style, that distinguish it in the marketplace.

Business Consulting

Professional advisory services that help organizations improve performance, solve problems, and achieve strategic goals.


C

CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act)

California state law that provides privacy rights and consumer protection for residents of California.

Change Management

The process, tools, and techniques used to manage the people side of organizational change to achieve desired business outcomes.

CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment)

Development practices that automate the building, testing, and deployment of software, enabling frequent and reliable releases.

Client

An individual or organization that engages Fluxline for consulting, development, design, coaching, or training services.

Cloud Computing

The delivery of computing services (servers, storage, databases, networking, software) over the internet ("the cloud").

Code Review

The systematic examination of source code to find and fix mistakes, improve code quality, and share knowledge among developers.

Confidentiality

The obligation to protect private or sensitive information from unauthorized disclosure.

Consent

Explicit permission granted by an individual for the collection, use, or disclosure of their personal information.

Data Security

Protective measures and protocols implemented to safeguard digital information from unauthorized access, corruption, or theft.

Design System

A collection of reusable components, patterns, and guidelines that ensure consistency across digital products.

DevOps

A set of practices that combines software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops) to shorten development cycles and provide continuous delivery.

Digital Transformation

The integration of digital technology into all areas of a business, fundamentally changing how it operates and delivers value.

Emotional Intelligence (EI/EQ)

The ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's own emotions and the emotions of others.

Engagement

A formal agreement or contract for services between Fluxline and a client.

Ethics

Moral principles that govern professional conduct and decision-making.

Frontend

The client-side of a web application that users interact with directly, including the visual interface and user experience.

Full-Stack Development

Software development that involves both frontend (client-side) and backend (server-side) programming.


G

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

European Union regulation governing data protection and privacy for individuals within the EU and the European Economic Area.

Git

A distributed version control system used for tracking changes in source code during software development.

HTML (HyperText Markup Language)

The standard markup language used to create and structure content on the web.

HTTP/HTTPS

Protocols used for transmitting data over the web. HTTPS is the secure, encrypted version.


I

Inclusive Design

Design methodology that considers the full range of human diversity, including ability, language, culture, gender, and age.

Intellectual Property (IP)

Creations of the mind, such as inventions, designs, names, images, and software, protected by law through patents, copyrights, and trademarks.

Iterative Development

A software development approach that builds systems through repeated cycles (iterations) of design, development, testing, and refinement.

JavaScript

A programming language commonly used to create interactive and dynamic content on websites.


L

Life Coaching

A professional relationship that helps individuals clarify goals, develop action plans, and achieve personal and professional objectives.

LGBTQ+

Acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, and other sexual orientations and gender identities.


M

Markdown

A lightweight markup language used for formatting text, commonly used for documentation and content creation.

MDX

A format that combines Markdown with JSX (JavaScript XML), allowing interactive components within markdown content.

Mentoring

A developmental relationship where a more experienced person guides and supports the growth of a less experienced person.

Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

A product with just enough features to satisfy early customers and provide feedback for future development.

Next.js

A React-based framework for building server-side rendered and statically generated web applications.

Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

A legal contract that establishes confidentiality between parties.


O

Open Source

Software with source code that anyone can inspect, modify, and enhance, typically licensed for free public use.


P

Personal Data

Any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.

Privacy Policy

A legal document that discloses how an organization collects, uses, and manages customer or client data.

Professional Services

Specialized expertise and skills provided by trained professionals to organizations or individuals.

Project Management

The application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements.

React

A JavaScript library for building user interfaces, particularly single-page applications with interactive elements.

Refactoring

The process of restructuring existing code without changing its external behavior to improve code quality and maintainability.

Responsive Design

Web design approach that ensures websites adapt and display properly across different devices and screen sizes.

Resonance Core

Fluxline's proprietary life coaching methodology focused on emotional intelligence, authentic self-expression, and personal transformation.

REST API (Representational State Transfer API)

An architectural style for building web services that use HTTP requests to access and manipulate data.


S

SaaS (Software as a Service)

Software distribution model where applications are hosted by a provider and made available to customers over the internet.

Scope Creep

The uncontrolled expansion of project scope without corresponding increases in resources, time, or budget.

Sprint

A time-boxed period (usually 1-4 weeks) during which specific work must be completed in Agile development.

Stakeholder

Any individual or group with an interest in or affected by a project or organization.

Statement of Work (SOW)

A formal document that defines project deliverables, timelines, milestones, and responsibilities.

Stewardship

Responsible oversight and ethical management of something entrusted to one's care.

Strategic Planning

The process of defining an organization's direction and making decisions on allocating resources to pursue this direction.


T

Terms of Use

Legal agreement between a service provider and user that outlines rules, responsibilities, and restrictions.

TypeScript

A strongly typed programming language that builds on JavaScript, adding static type definitions.


U

UI (User Interface)

The visual elements and controls that allow users to interact with a software application or website.

UX (User Experience)

The overall experience a person has when using a product or service, especially in terms of how easy or pleasing it is to use.

User Story

A brief description of a feature from the perspective of the end user, commonly used in Agile development.


V

Version Control

A system that records changes to files over time so that specific versions can be recalled later.


W

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)

International standards for making web content accessible to people with disabilities.

Wellness

A holistic state of physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease.

White Paper

An authoritative report or guide that informs readers about a complex issue and presents a specific approach or solution.

Workflow

A sequence of tasks or processes through which work passes from initiation to completion.
